Artillery from the Second World War
100-mm howitzer wz. 1914/1919 koda
In the 1920s, it was decided to increase the number of howitzers in artillery regiments. As a result, an agreement was signed with the Skoda plant for the purchase of licenses and staff training.
In 1928, the Starakhovitsy plant began production. In 1938, production was started at the plants in Staleva Volya. The manufactured gun had a range of 9600 meters. The cannon was intended for transportation by horses, but some of the howitzers were equipped with wheels with tires and were assigned to the 16th Light Artillery Squadron of the first motor Artillery Regiment as part of the 10th Motorized Cavalry Brigade. The guns were towed there by C4P tractors.
In the 1930s, they simultaneously worked on their own, modern design. The new cannon was supposed to have a firing range of up to 14,000 meters and had to be adapted to mechanical thrust.
In September, about 580 such guns participated in the battles. 13 howitzers used armored trains. They represented the highest combat value among all types of artillery due to the least wear and tear. However, there was not enough ammunition, the cannon had an average of 28 rounds.
100-mm howitzers wz. 14/19 were exported from the Czech Republic, including to Yugoslavia, Greece, Italy and Hungary. At the time of the outbreak of war, it was one of the most popular field guns in Europe. Many howitzers were captured by the Germans, who used them only in the French campaign under the designation 10 cm leFH 14/19. Later they were part of the fortifications on the coast of France. The Italian version had wheels with tires and was adapted for traction.
Mountain cannon 65 mm wz. 1906
French 65mm guns have been used in mountain artillery since 1906. The gun had a range of 5,500-6,000 m and a rate of fire of 100 rounds per hour. A characteristic feature of the gun was that the barrel tilted upward after firing.
In the early 20s of the last century, the guns in Brest-on-Bug were upgraded, other sights were used and a protective shield was installed. The cannon was also used by the French, Albanians, Greeks, and Germans.
In September 1939, of the 24 guns belonging to the army, 12 were used in 3 batteries of the 1st and 2nd mountain brigades. Due to the great wear and tear, they did not have much combat value.
8 mm carbine model 1916 "Berthier";
After the end of the First World War, the Poles had a diverse collection of rifles from all armies. They had a French Berthiers from 1916, which they bought from Lebel. It was a more modern weapon than Lebel's, but it still had many drawbacks. In 1939, about 93,000 of these rifles were still in service with the Polish Army.
